West Ham play host to Leeds in the FA Cup this afternoon and David Moyes should give Armstrong Okoflex a chance to shine.
The 19-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer from Celtic in the summer.
And he’s already make a big impact at the London Stadium at youth level.
Okoflex has bagged 14 goals in 15 games for West Ham’s under-23’s so far this season.
The Hammers’ under-23 coach Mark Robson recently told WHUFC.com just how good the Dublin-born youngster is and described him as a ‘massive, massive threat’.
We think it’s time for the teenager to be given a chance to shine at the highest level though.
West Ham Leeds FA Cup clash ideal chance for Okoflex to shine
Moyes needs to make a few brave selections today.
Said Benrahma is away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria so the likes of Nikolai Vlasic, Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod Bowen will be playing a lot of football over the next few weeks.
So today could be a real chance for Moyes to place his trust in Okoflex.
The former Celtic man didn’t look out of place at all when playing for the Hammers’ senior team during pre-season.
In fact, he scored a goal against his former club at Parkhead.
The 19-year-old has plenty of pace, plays with a real directness and is a very good finisher.
He seems to have all of the attributes needed to make it at the very highest level.
Sometimes players who have what it takes respond well when they’re thrown in the deep end.
We think that’s exactly what Moyes should do with Okoflex as West Ham play host to Leeds in the FA Cup third round today.
It could be the teenager’s time to shine. And playing Okoflex would also give someone else a much-needed rest.
