David Moyes has surprised admitted that his West Ham United team do not work on set-pieces everyday in training, as quoted by C&H.

The Hammers have been a real threat from corners and free-kicks this season.

We have scored 13 Premier League goals from set-pieces – more than any other team in the top flight.

With the likes of Craig Dawson and Tomas Soucek, we have two players who are arguably the best headers of the ball in the division.

Not only that, but we have arguably the Premier League’s best delivery in the form of Aaron Cresswell’s left foot.

David Moyes makes West Ham training admission

Every time we have a set-piece in a dangerous area we look like scoring. It is a huge asset to have and every other team in the top flight will be wary of West Ham’s threat from dead-ball deliveries.

Surprisingly, however, David Moyes told reporters how the Hammers don’t work on set-pieces every day during training, as quoted by C&H:

“A lot of this I pass onto my staff. I control and decide what we’re going to do but I give a lot of the planning to them. So they’re excited about it because they have seen that we’re doing well at it. I think that the key to it is to have people who really want to head it. Obviously you need good deliverers. And when you get both of them coming together, to get the good deliverers in a couple of people who can head it. In the early part of the season Thomas was getting in his head on many things. Then now at the moment we’ve got Daws stepping up to the mark as well. I hope we can keep it going. It’s not something we practice every day. But one way you look at it, what you say is it’s a big part football, and if we can score from set pieces so be it.”

Perhaps Moyes is just down-playing our strengths from set-pieces.

It is surely impossible to be as good at them as we are without put in daily work and practice.

Our ability to cause havoc from corners and free-kicks will likely have a huge bearing on the outcome of today’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Let’s hope that we add to our already impressive tally of 13 goals scored from deadly-ball situations.

A win against Man United today would be huge. And I cannot wait.
