David Moyes has clearly forgotten himself after pulling out an utterly baffling excuse for the latest drab West Ham display.
As David Moyes continues to look for excuses to explain away West Ham’s dreadful performances he’s starting to trip himself up.
After the dull as dishwater 1-1 draw with a seriously under strength Crystal Palace on Sunday, Moyes even dared try to blame West Ham fans for failing to generate a good atmosphere on a Sunday.
On Thursday night in Serbia Moyes blamed light Europa League balls and a dodgy pitch for West Ham’s failure to play any kind of cohesive football.

Palace were without their five best players at the London Stadium.
But West Ham once again failed to impress despite the return of several stars from injury and illness.
Now Moyes has forgotten himself with an utterly baffling excuse for the latest drab West Ham display.
The Hammers were tepid and playing at a tempo more reminiscent of a pre-season game rather than a London derby.
And the manager has blamed the trip to Serbia for West Ham’s poor performance levels.
“There might have been a bit of carry over from the game in midweek,” Moyes told Sky Sports.
‘Serbia trip to blame’
“We didn’t play quick enough, we need a big atmosphere here on a Sunday and it’s not always easy to get it with these kick-off times, to help the players as well.”
He repeated the excuse in his post-match interview with West Ham’s official website too.
“We’ve all just come back from Serbia in the midweek and the fans who made the trip there will know what that was like,” Moyes said.
“We don’t want to use it as an excuse but there was a little bit of a reason behind it [the performance vs Palace].”
Half the team didn’t even play and many didn’t travel
Well Moyes is clearly forgetting the fact that six of the players who started against Palace did not start against Backa Topola.
And four of those – Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, Vladimir Coufal and Jarrod Bowen – did not even travel to Serbia for the game.
So that excuse simply does not cut any ice.
Before the match against Palace Moyes said he was not concerned about West Ham’s poor performances as long as they kept winning.
Well the recent luck ran out against the Eagles and that leaves the Scot nowhere to hide.
He simply must take ownership of his failure to implement a style and identity in West Ham’s play. He held his hands up last season that he tried and failed to get the Hammers playing better football.
West Ham fans have a lot to be grateful to Moyes for. But they are not stupid and know this team, with the players the manager has at his disposal, should be playing an attacking, exciting brand of football.
Especially when they look around the league and see so many other teams doing just that.
Moyes’ excuses are getting as boring as some of the football his side are serving up.
