David Moyes delivers spiky response to Antonio and Ings question from Ian Abrahams and it leaves us in no doubt he will never change

West Ham United manager David Moyes seemed to be easily offended by Ian Abrahams during his pre-match press conference yesterday.

David Moyes was for once properly challenged by West Ham supporting journalist Ian Abrahams in his presser yesterday.

The Hammers boss usually gets a pretty easy ride form the press, and is rarely asked pertinent questions with an kind of real substance.

That all changed yesterday though, when Moyes was asked about potentially fitting Michail Antonio or Danny Ings into his team alongside his current front three, and he wasn’t happy about it one little bit.

Moyes let the mask slip and Abrahams probed for an answer…

David Moyes delivers spiky response to question from Ian Abrahams

When asked by football journalist Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams whether there is a way to get Antonio or Ings into the team, as well as Paqueta, Kudus and Bowen, Moyes responded:

“Well, you try and work that out.”

Abrahams then put it to Moyes: “You’re the man picking the team not me“, before the Scot responded:

“Yeh but you’re the one who’s asked the question, so give me your idea then to get all them in.”

The Moose then fired back with: “It’s always possible to get attacking players in”, to which Moyes finished the exchange with:

“It is always is, that’s right It just so happens that you’ve got to defend in football as well.”

Wow, that really was very spiky from Moyes. If I was Moose, I would have suggested that he could always play Antonio on the left wing, and move Paqueta into the midfield three, dropping one of either Tomas Soucek or James Ward-Prowse.

I would have also reminded him that his team are not actually very good at defending either! We’ve conceded 49 goals in the Premier League this season – only six teams have let in more.

I get the feeling that the Hammers boss thinks he is impervious to tough questions being asked by journalists and I don’t really understand why. Moyes has a certain kind of arrogance about him whereby he thinks he’s beyond reproach.

I’m far from Ian Abrahams’ biggest fan, but it was so refreshing to hear him push David Moyes with his line of questioning yesterday.

It’s something that we need to see far more of from the journalists who are fortunate enough to attend Moyes’s press conferences.
