West Ham United could need as many as eleven points from the final eight games of the season to stay in the Premier League – if Leeds manager Daniel Farke is to be believed.
Indeed, despite a recent revival under Nuno Espirito Santo, West Ham United remain slight favourites to be relegated this season alongside Wolves and Burnley.
What changes would you make to this team against Aston Villa? 🤔
Harsh on Todibo but we NEED to win
They head into round 31 in the Premier League’s relegation zone on goal difference, but they do have a great chance to emerge from it on Sunday given rivals Tottenham and Nottingham Forest play each other.
Over the past few seasons, it has taken a very low points total to stay up. Farke, however, believes as many as 40 points may be necessary.
Farke thinks 40 points could be needed to stay in the Premier League
The Yorkshire giants are currently three points ahead of West Ham (32) – though they do have to travel to the London Stadium on the final day of the campaign.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference before Leeds play against Brentford on Saturday night, Farke said: “I think we need to win at least six more points. 38 was always our crossbar, it could even be that we need one or two points more.”
He added: “Six to eight points are needed.”
Would you take relegation if it meant that David Sullivan would leave?! 🤔
The last time that 38 points or more were required to stay in the Premier League was back during the 2021/22 campaign.

Predicting how many points West Ham will have by the end of the season
There are reasons to believe that West Ham will stay up this season, despite their lowly position in the table.
Their form since mid-January has been impressive and that is a strong sample size from which to draw a conclusion.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 15 | 30 | 7 | 11 | 12 | 37 | 48 | -11 | 32 | |
| 16 | 30 | 7 | 9 | 14 | 40 | 47 | -7 | 30 | |
| 17 | 30 | 7 | 8 | 15 | 28 | 43 | -15 | 29 | |
| 18 | 30 | 7 | 8 | 15 | 36 | 55 | -19 | 29 | |
| 19 | 30 | 4 | 8 | 18 | 32 | 58 | -26 | 20 | |
| 20 | 31 | 3 | 8 | 20 | 24 | 54 | -30 | 17 |
Clearly, nothing is achieved yet – but the foundations are strong here in east London.
The Irons could feasibly win games against Aston Villa, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Leeds between now and the end of May.
That would take them to 41, if they didn’t pick up any points against Everton, Brentford and Newcastle.
