Could billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe switch attention back to West Ham after suffering a Man United Qatari blow.

West Ham and Manchester United are poles apart in the Premier League this season as they both fight at opposite ends of the table.

But one thing the Hammers and Red Devils do have in common is that both clubs have been heavily linked with new ownership.

Unless you have been living under a rock you will be well aware from the almost 24-hour sports news coverage, that Man United have been put up for sale by the Glazers.

And it has long been speculated that West Ham could be sold after the March expiration of the infamous embarrassment clause in the club’s London Stadium deal with the LLDC.

There have been serious doubts over the long-term intentions of Daniel Kretinsky, who became West Ham’s second biggest stakeholder when he purchased 27 per cent of the club in November 2021.

The future of both Man United and West Ham could actually be linked.

A deadline of 10pm Friday evening has been set by Man United for takeover bids. Sky Sports claims they have impending bids from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and English billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

As reported on Hammers News before the World Cup break, Ratcliffe was allegedly interested in a potential takeover of West Ham before Man United were put on the market.

He has a net worth of around £10.5bn and is desperate to add a Premier League club to his empire.

It appeared Man United had killed any West Ham hopes of a Ratcliffe takeover when they were put up for sale as he confirmed his intention to bid for the Old Trafford club.

But could billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe switch attention back to West Ham after his Man United Qatari blow.

According to widespread reports the Qataris are the favourites to win the takeover battle ahead of the bid deadline.

So that could leave Ratcliffe still searching for that elusive Premier League club he so desires.

According to The Daily Mirror, the INEOS CEO targeted West Ham after he missed out on Chelsea to Todd Boehly’s US consortium – only for Man United to then become available.

The problem for West Ham fans yearning an ambitious new owner who might be able to help the team consistently challenge the elite, is that David Sullivan may have no intention of selling.

That’s according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire when speaking to Hammers News recently.
