The transfer window has now closed and West Ham were one of the most active clubs in the Premier League from start to finish.

They don’t hand out trophies for the winners of the transfer window but if they did West Ham would have been in the title race.

Nine new signings have come in and 12 have left to transform what was the second oldest and smallest squad in the Premier League.

There could be further signings on the way too after Julen Lopetegui admitted West Ham are now looking at free agents.

When he was officially unveiled as West Ham’s new boss, head coach Lopetegui made it perfectly clear he means business in east London.

The ex Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla manager boss declared he wants to ‘make a big noise’ with West Ham.

And there is no denying he has been given the tools to do just that thanks to the club’s summer transfer window activity, lead by technical director Tim Steidten.

Among West Ham’s nine signings there is an intriguing mix of exciting young stars and experienced players who are ready to go. And the jump in quality – on paper at least – is huge.

Brazilian teen sensation Luis Guilherme and young flying Dutchman Crysencio Summerville have bolstered the Irons’ attack for the years ahead.

Long-term they will add to the already exciting mix of Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and – on his day – Lucas Paqueta.

Experienced Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug will surely be a big threat once he gets games under his belt and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez looks like one of the steals of the summer already.

The defence has been almost completely overhauled too with centre-back duo Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo being joined by new right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the London Stadium.

PSG and Spain ace Carlos Soler became the ninth signing on deadline day. A classy, versatile midfield star who specialises in set pieces, his arrival completes an impressive array of midfield options.

Now it is up to Lopetegui to knit it all together and ensure the new-look team fulfils its undoubted promise.

Challenging for a European spot is the stated aim by the manager and several Hammers stars.

Journalists and pundits have been having their say on who has had the most impressive window in the Premier League.

Now Clinton Morrison has made a bold West Ham transfer claim will excite fans about what’s coming.

Speaking on Sky Sports News this weekend, Morrison says West Ham had the best window hands down.

He picked out one signing as particularly impressive business and is predicting big things from the Hammers as a result of the additions to what they already have.

“There have been a lot of good windows… but the one I would say that has been a very good window is West Ham United,” Morrison said.

“Their window has been excellent.

“I think West Ham will have a big season this season.

“I think some of the signings, in particular at right-back Wan-Bissaka is a really good signing, and they’ve got quality already so I think they’ve added a lot.”

talkSPORT duo Jamie O’Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor recently said West Ham are now a ‘big problem for the Premier League’.

Henry Winter and Stan Collymore have also raved about West Ham’s window.

Actions speak louder than words and now it’s up to Lopetegui to live up to those expectations.
