Wolves have allegedly taken the first step needed to sign West Ham United transfer target Ben Brereton Diaz from Blackburn.
That’s according to a report from Football League World who claim that Wolves have contacted Blackburn about signing the 23-year-old forward after Raul Jimenez was ruled out for around a month with a knee injury.

Hammers boss David Moyes is allegedly keen to bring Brereton Diaz to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window (The Guardian).
It now seems as though Wolves will represent somewhat of a problem for Moyes and West Ham though…

Wolves eye up Brereton Diaz swoop
Football League World reckon that Wolves have made an enquiry for the 23-year-old Blackburn forward.
If the Black Country outfit win the race for the Chile international it will be somewhat of a blow for the Hammers.
David Moyes has already secured a marquee striker signing by bringing Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium. It could be argued that the West Ham boss needs to add one more attacker to his ranks before the transfer window slams shut, however.
And Brereton Diaz would have been the ideal backup option for the Hammers.
The 23-year-old has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.
The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.
Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:
“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”
After struggling during the early years of his career, it seems as though he has received a real confidence boost from being included in the Chile squad.
The Sun reckons that he will be available for around £15 million this summer. That sounds like decent value to us. And we would be more than happy if Moyes manages to sign the Blackburn ace in the summer.
Unfortunately for West Ham though, Wolves have seemingly made the first move to sign Brereton Diaz. And the thing is, he will most likely have a far greater chance of regular action at Molineux than he would at the London Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether that factors into Brereton Diaz’s decision though.
