Jean-Clair Todibo has just alleviated some concerns about his move to West Ham United from Nice.

West Ham signed Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice on a season-long loan, and we have the obligation to buy him next summer.

Hammers fans’ excitement reached fever pitch late on Thursday night when it emerged that Tim Steidten had hijacked Juventus’s deal to sign Todibo.

Now the 24-year-old is an official West Ham player and that is such a nice feeling for everyone involved with the club.

Julen Lopetegui has a seriously good team on his hands now – one that is easily good enough to challenge for a top six finish.

In my opinion, Todibo was the most important signing out of the lot this summer, and it cannot be underestimated just how much we needed him.

However, there was one big concern about his move to the London Stadium. That said, he’s certainly now eased those fears…

The 24-year-old is undoubtedly one of the very best central defenders in European football.

He’s just 24 as well, and has many more years left ahead of him before he has even reached his prime.

Quite how we’ve managed to pull this one off really is hard to believe. Most West Ham fans were resigned to the fact that he was all set to join Juve.

Now, Todibo has broken his silence about his move to the London Stadium, when speaking to WHUFC.com.

And he eased some of the concerns about his move to the club.

Todibo said, “I am really excited to be signing for West Ham United,” said Todibo, who enjoyed loan spells with German club Schalke 04 and Portuguese side Benfica as a youngster. “It is a dream come true to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me, at a Club with huge ambition, who want to really make progress under the new Head Coach.

“It feels like the right time to be coming to West Ham, in the heart of London, with an amazing, passionate fan-base. I’m so excited to pull on the West Ham shirt, and play at the London Stadium in the Premier League.”

Now, that really is a big relief.

All we were hearing over the past few weeks is that Todibo only wants to join Juventus, and that he had his heart set on a move to the Turin giants.

The last thing we need at West Ham is players who don’t actually want to play for us, but have only joined us for the money.

Whilst he may have had an ambition to play for Juve, he certainly seemed happy during his official unveiling as a new Hammers player yesterday.

Jean-Clair Todibo will have a long and prosperous career at West Ham United, I have no doubts about that.

And the fact that he seemed so delighted when discussing his move to the London Stadium was vitally important as far as I’m concerned, after claims that he was pining for Juventus all summer long.
