A big claim about West Ham and Spurs has sparked a 5 Live debate amid fresh talk that David Moyes could be sacked.
There is no love lost between West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.
So any comparison between the Hammers and Spurs is always going to evoke an element of tribalism.
West Ham were right on Tottenham’s coattails in the race for a Champions League spot a month ago.
But no wins in 2024 for West Ham has seen their bitter rivals open up an 11-point gap to fourth place.
It has also seen David Moyes’ future called into question once more.
Now a big claim about West Ham and Spurs has sparked a 5 Live debate amid Moyes sack talk.

Big claim about West Ham and Spurs sparks 5 Live debate
Spurs fans will be familiar with the gripe of many Hammers supporters.
A large section of West Ham fans are unhappy with the style of play under Moyes. Just as Tottenham supporters were under the likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
But a heated row broke out between 5 Live host Chris Sutton and a Hammers fan when the latter justified demanding better football by declaring West Ham have a better squad than Tottenham Hotspur.
Sutton asked who of the top six the Hammers fan felt his team should be above in the Premier League table.

‘West Ham have a better squad than Tottenham’
The supporter stated West Ham have a better squad than Aston Villa and Tottenham.
But when he mentioned Spurs, it was met with bewilderment from Sutton, Mark Chapman and Andros Townsend. You can check it out below.
Now let’s have it right. That claim simply does not stand up to scrutiny.
Tottenham – as much as it will pain most to admit – have a far superior squad to West Ham.
They have quality back-up in most positions and spent over £60m on two of the best attacking full-backs around.

Doesn’t stack up but fans have every right to expect better football
West Ham do have a number of high quality individuals such as Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez. And on his day Alphonse Areola is a top goalkeeper too.
The fan has been mocked for his claim. But the crux of the point he was trying to make is valid.
West Ham have a good enough squad to expect to play exciting – or at least better – football AND get results.
If the likes of Villa and Spurs can expect that then why not West Ham? The Hammers are officially the fifth best supported club on the planet.
West Ham are also the 18th richest club in world football.
But until there is serious investment in key areas of the team and squad depth, though, the argument that the Hammers have a better squad than Tottenham simply does not stack up.
And don’t even get us started on the training facilities.
