Potter has warned the Hammers fans that we have to be patient with Ferguson, due to his recent injury problems.
The Republic of Ireland international has really struggled with his fitness over the past 12-18 months.
The thing is, we all know what he’s capable of. His debut season in the Premier League two years ago saw him bag 10 goals – a fine tally for a teenager.
On his day, he can be unplayable.

Ferguson has absolutely everything we need to produce the goods at the very highest level for the Hammers.
And let’s not forget now, it wasn’t like we were the only team in the race to sign the young centre-forward was it?
According to a report from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, West Ham did incredibly well to sign Ferguson in the summer.
That’s because Premier League powerhouses Arsenal and Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen all wanted to acquire the 20-year-old’s signature in January.
When you think about it, that really is incredible isn’t it.
Little old West Ham beating those kind if teams in the race to sign a supremely talented young striker.
If anything, it proves that the Hammers still have a huge pull in the game.
Will West Ham be able to sign Evan Ferguson permanently?
If Ferguson succeeds at West Ham it will be very interesting to see if we’re able to keep him at the club beyond the summer.
The Hammers don’t have an obligation to buy the 20-year-old, nor do we have an option.
It has been claimed that signing Ferguson on a permanent deal in the summer will be a hard task for West Ham.
However, I like to look at it through a different lens.
If the Irishman is successful with the Hammers, he will surely be grateful for the opportunity given to him by Potter and the club.
The West Ham head coach gave him his debut in the Premier League at Brighton, so he undoubtedly holds him in very high esteem.
I believe that Evan Ferguson is perfect for West Ham right now, as we are for him.
