Graham Potter brought Evan Ferguson to West Ham United on deadline day 10 days ago.

West Ham head coach Graham Potter knows Evan Ferguson very well indeed, having coached him during his spell in charge of Brighton.

Ferguson has already expressed his delight at moving to the London Stadium on loan, raving about the sheer volume of quality players we have at West Ham.

The Irishman was sensational for Brighton during the 2022/23 season, and bagged 10 goals for Potter’s side when he was only 18.

His quality is clear and obvious to see, but he has struggled to replicate his 2022/23 form over the past 12-18 months.

Can he rediscover his best stuff with the Hammers though? Potter has warned the fans to be patient with out new striker.

Potter has spoken very well since taking over as the Hammers head coach one month ago.

He has offered real enthusiasm and positivity – something we have been bereft of at the London Stadium over the past year.

However, he urged caution when discussing Ferguson on Thursday.

Potter warned the West Ham fans that he will have to be careful with the striker due to his lack of first-team action recently, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

The situation with Evan is that he hasn’t played that much football recently, so we have to be a bit careful with how many minutes he plays and whether he starts.

I think the bottom line is that we all have to be patient with the Irish hitman.

He definitely has the talent, now he just need regular game-time to show us all what he’s capable of.

I’m convinced that Graham Potter’s decision to bring Evan Ferguson to West Ham will be an inspired one.

Let’s just hope that if he is a big hit with us, we are able to secure a permanent deal for his services in the summer.
