West Ham United have reportedly been given a big warning about signing Jota by Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou managed West Ham target Jota during his time at Celtic, and the Tottenham boss has been linked with bringing him to north London.

Since joining Al-Ittihad from Celtic for around £25 million back in July (Sky Sports), he has really struggled having been cut from the Saudi club’s squad due to the eight foreign player quota rule.

Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring the 24-year-old winger to the London Stadium, but the deal is currently being held up by issues concerning tax.

And now, Moyes has seemingly been given a warning by one of his adversaries regarding a move to sign Jota.

The Scot is apparently a huge fan of the Portuguese attacker, but is he really good enough to succeed in the Premier League?

Ange Postecoglou gives Moyes big Jota transfer warning

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Tottenham manager Postecoglou considered signing Jota, but has reservations regarding whether he’s actually good enough to make an impact in the Premier League.

Now, there is definitely an argument to be had that he hasn’t yet proven himself at the very top of the game.

After joining Celtic back in 2021, he bagged 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games for them (Transfermarkt).

Those are some pretty impressive numbers, but that doesn’t automatically mean that he’d be a hit in the Premier League.

We all know that the English top tier is on another level entirely to the Scottish Premiership, as far as quality, intensity and speed are concerned.

Jota is a very good player, there’s no denying that, but Ange Postecoglou not signing him for Tottenham tells its own story really doesn’t it.

The 24-year-old forward possesses exceptional skill, and is a joy to watch. However, has he got what it takes to make a real impact with West Ham United in the Premier League? That is still very much up for debate, and we’ll never know until he actually plays in the English top flight.
