Amazingly, West Ham apparently could have still signed £17m man if Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal went south

West Ham United now seem to have ironed out all the creases in the proposed deal to bring Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the club.

It was only yesterday morning when it was suggested that the 26-year-old joining the Hammers was 99% a done deal.

However, things seemed to change throughout the day, and that got the West Ham fans sweating.

The thought of missing out on signing him was a hugely concerning one, because of how transformational he’d be to our defending.

Wan-Bissaka arriving at the London Stadium would make West Ham’s transfer window a 10/10 in my view.

Kudos to Julen Lopetegui, Tim Steidten and David Sullivan for making all of these positive things happen this summer.

He’s head and shoulders above Vladimir Coufal, and he would take us to another level entirely.

The former Palace man is one of the quickest defenders in world football, and there aren’t many better at sprinting back into position when opposition teams try to play counter attacking football.

Wan-Bissaka is an elite tackler, and his ability to man-mark wingers out of games could be very useful indeed for us.

However, news emerged overnight that didn’t look too promising for our hopes of signing the Manchester United defender…

Fresh West Ham claim after Aaron Wan-Bissaka twist

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Noussair Mazraoui for around £17 million (Manchester Evening News).

They need to move Wan-Bissaka on to the Hammers first though, before they can complete the signing of the Bayern Munich man.

Interestingly, the Morocco international was actually close to moving to West Ham before Man United swooped in for him.

And now a truly stunning claim has emerged from Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

He posted a message on X last night saying, While West Ham wait, interest retained in alternatives – including NUFC’s Kieran Trippier & Bayern’s Noussair Mazraoui. West Ham agreed €20m deal for Mazraoui – only to pull out & focus on wan-Bissaka. United’s deal for Mazraoui dependent on wan-Bissaka going.

Firstly, it’s worth mentioning again that since then, things seem to have been smoothed over.

It is now being claimed that Wan-Bissaka’s exit terms from Old Trafford have been agreed, and he’s due to undergo his medical in East London this morning.

If the Hammers weren’t able to seal a deal for the right-back though, and went back in for Mazraoui, it really would have been a shock move.

Talk about a 360! The Moroccan is a very good player, but I really think Wan-Bissaka is better than him.

I’m just not sure why Man United are letting the former Crystal Palace man leave the club, only to bring in someone not as good as him.

Oh well, that’s their problem. All I’m concerned about is West Ham getting the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka over the line by the end of today.

And thankfully, it seems like that is exactly what will happen.
