If Alan Pardew was still in the West Ham United dugout, rather than Nuno Espirito Santo, a decision over Callum Wilson’s future would have been made already.
To think, there were – admittedly very understandable – concerns when the Hammers signed an injury-prone 34-year-old striker on a free transfer last summer.
A la Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Leeds – West Ham snubbed the ex-Everton man, ironically enough, before bringing in Callum Wilson – those doubts have been dispelled in the best-possible fashion.
DISCUSS: Callum Wilson is NOT a starter for West Ham even despite his late goal vs Everton 👀
Wilson has only scored twice for West Ham United in 2026. But those two stoppage-time winners, away to relegation rivals Tottenham and now at home to Everton, could be worth their weight in gold, not to mention the six points they have added to Nuno Espirito Santo’s tally.
Alan Pardew says West Ham United must keep Callum Wilson
With concerns over both his age and his injury record quietening down, former boss Alan Pardew would welcome Wilson back to the London Stadium with open arms come the start of pre-season.
“Well done Callum. Give him a new deal,” Pardew said on talkSPORT some 24 hours after Wilson popped up at the back post to convert Jarrod Bowen’s 92nd minute knockdown.

Thus, ensuring that West Ham will go into the final four matchdays on the right side of the dotted line.
Wilson’s future in East London remains uncertain beyond the summer. His short-term deal expires in July, while Wilson himself cast doubt over a contract extension on Saturday night.
“It was fantastic to see it [his goal] go in, to share that moment with the fans,” said the former Newcastle and Bournemouth poacher. “Like I say, it’s the last few games of the season, for the club potentially, so yeah it was fantastic.
Am I onto something or should we have blind trust in Nuno? 🤔
His subs scare the life out of me sometimes!
“It was nice to see it go in, to let out a little bit of frustration as well. You know, as a striker, you want to be playing more and more.”
Despite only being unavailable for one of West Ham’s 34 Premier League matches, Wilson has made a grand total of six starts.
Reports linking the club with a number of potential striker signings – Santiago Castro, Heittor Vinicius and Mexico international Armando Gonzalez have been mentioned – suggest that Pardew might not get his wish.
