Ajax have sacked the director who sanctioned West Ham deals which have left the Dutch giants in utter chaos after their latest match was abandoned.

If West Ham have enjoyed a good start to the season with their new signings on board, Ajax have endured the polar opposite.

Ajax were delighted when they swooped to hijack West Ham’s move for Man City winger Carlos Borges at the 11th hour in the summer.

Fast forward to the end of the window, though, and West Ham managed to take Ajax’s two best players Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez for a combined £72m.

At the time football legend Marco van Basten angrily hit out asking why Ajax were selling their best players to West Ham and saying the club must stand for more than making money.

It seems he was certainly on to something.

Because the man behind the decisions on those big deals involving the Hammers has been relieved of his duties just five months into the job.

Going all in to beat Hammers to Borges before selling star duo Kudus and Alvarez to West Ham prove to be Ajax director’s undoing

The Dutch giants have announced they have terminated the contract of Director of Football Sven Mislintat with immediate effect.

The German was the man who dealt with West Ham technical director and compatriot Tim Steidten when selling Alvarez and Kudus to the Hammers.

Mislintat, who made his name at Borussia Dortmund, was only appointed in April.

But Ajax have stated the ‘lack of broad support within the organisation is the reason behind this decision’.

It comes with Ajax sitting 14th in the fledgling 18-team Eredivisie table.

Furious fans riot to get game against rivals abandoned before Mislintat sacking

And after fans threw flares onto the pitch and vandalised their own stadium which saw De Klassieker derby clash against Feyenoord abandoned after 56 minutes with the visitors 3-0 up.

Parts of the Johan Cruyff Arena are said to have been ‘destroyed’ during the chaos on Sunday night – with video footage showing fans smashing windows and kicking through doors, The Daily Mail reports.

Ajax responded by sacking Mislintat last night with the decisions to sell Alvarez and Kudus to West Ham and sign Borges ahead of them his ultimate undoing.
