West Ham United completed the signing of Max Kilman from Wolves this morning for around £40 million.
Max Kilman has already spoken about his excitement after signing for West Ham, suggesting that he cannot wait to play in front of 62,000 odd fans at the London Stadium.
Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui will be delighted to have Kilman, 27, at the club now. He was his captain at Wolves, and one thing we desperately lack right now is natural leaders.
After conceding 74 Premier League goals last season, addressing the central defensive department was undoubtedly one of Lopetegui’s man priorities when he took over at the London Stadium.
The Hammers boss has certainly done that with the signing of Kilman – he’s one of the very best central defenders in the Premier League.
Wolves Sporting Director Matt Hobbs has shared just how much his side will miss the centre-back, and that will surely keep Kilman’s doubters quiet for the time being.
I’m delighted that the 27-year-old has joined the Hammers. I think he’ll be a fantastic player for us, and there is something absolutely brilliant about the £40 million signing that has gone under the radar somewhat…
Added bonus of Max Kilman signing for West Ham
The 27-year-old began his youth career with CM Futsal Academy before joining Fulham and Gillingham respectively.
He then moved on to Welling United in 2014, before linking up with Maidenhead United a year later.

Kilman earned his big move to Wolves back in 2018, and he spent six years at Molineux before completing his £40 million move to West Ham.
That seems like a lot of money, but I have no doubts that the centre-back will end up being worth every penny for the Hammers.
I feel like a lot of people are forgetting the added bonus West Ham will be getting by signing Kilman though.
As highlighted by Sean Whetstone, Kilman will now count as our eighth homegrown player, alongside Aaron Cresswell, Wes Foderingham, Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen, Danny Ings, Flynn Downes and James Ward-Prowse.
That’s vital for us as Premier League rules now state that each club must have a minimum of eight homegrown players in their 25-man squads for the season.
So we’re now covered as far as those guidelines are concerned, although it’s something that will have to be addressed again if the likes of Ings and Downes are moved on this summer.
After signing for West Ham, Max Kilman will undoubtedly add so much to the team, both on and off the pitch.
However, the fact that he counts as a homegrown player is a nice little added bonus that many people haven’t even noticed.
