West Ham United head coach Graham Potter has to make one big signing in particular over the course of the next five days.

Graham Potter has been in charge of West Ham for just under three weeks now, and he has already made a very big impact.

However, it will be impossible for him to oversee real progress without bringing some new players into the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut on Monday.

However, the main priority for Potter should be to sign a proven striker.

Annoyingly, injury-prone Andre Silva has been very heavily linked with a move to the Hammers in the January window.

The RB Leipzig forward would be a really poor and underwhelming signing to say the least.

There are plenty of more exciting options out there available for us.

And one of them in particular seems to be very keen to join West Ham.

The Hammers head coach knows full well that he needs to bring a proper striker to the London Stadium before Monday’s deadline.

Sure, Jarrod Bowen is closing in on a return to action, but he’s at his best out wide on the right.

And one striker in particular is being heavily linked with a move to West Ham right now.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Graham Potter will act as the Hammers’ secret weapon in the race to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton this month.

Potter gave the 20-year-old his big breakthrough whilst in charge of Brighton when he gave him his debut.

And now it seems like Ferguson is keen to work with Potter again, this time at the London Stadium.

The striker recently held talks with Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler about potentially leaving the club this winter, and now it seems like he is indeed set for an exit.

Once valued at around £100 million, Brighton apparently could now be prepared to sell Ferguson for just £50 million (Mirror).

Whilst I don’t think we’ll pay anything like that for the Brighton hitman this summer, I do think we should sign him on loan.

It would be great as well if the Hammers manage to include an option to buy the Republic of Ireland international for around £30-40 million.

Evan Ferguson is perfect for West Ham

I’m convinced that Ferguson would be a big hit with the Hammers.

The Brighton forward is perfect for what we need right now, if he manages to stay fit of course.

Ferguson is incredibly strong in the air, possesses decent pace and is very good technically.

Despite his struggles over the past year or so, he proved during his debut campaign with Brighton that he’s more than good enough to succeed in the Premier League, with 10 goals to his name.

The Hammers are crying out for a focal point to our attacking play right now.

Lucas Paqueta performed brilliantly in the ‘false 9’ position against Aston Villa on Sunday.

However, the Brazilian would be even better for us if he had a proper centre-forward to link up with.

That man could well be Evan Ferguson, and it seems like West Ham are in a very strong position to make a deal for the Brighton star happen before deadline day next week.
