Axel Disasi comes straight into the West Ham United XI to make his debut in today’s Premier League clash at Burnley while Nuno Espirito Santo recalls Callum Wilson and Mads Hermansen in place of Pablo Felipe and Alphonse Areola.
After Nottingham Forest collapsed at Leeds on Friday night, West Ham United can go to within three points of 17th if they beat Scott Parker’s side at Turf Moor.
Three big calls from Nuno!
What do you make of Hermansen and Wilson coming in?
Nuno confirmed Axel Disasi would be available despite concerns over his lack of match sharpness. And the Chelsea loanee steps into the XI just days after joining. This will be Disasi’s first Premier League appearance since April 2025, when he was at Aston Villa.
Disasi will wear the number four shirt vacated by Edson Alvarez when he joined Fenerbahce on loan last summer.
Callum Wilson also makes his first start since the 3-0 Wolves calamity a month ago. Many of our Hammers News readers felt Wilson deserved another go, and he steps in for January recruit Pablo Felipe in a move which could see Taty Castellanos move into the number ten role.
West Ham are in EXACTLY the same position as in their ‘Great Escape’ season! ⚡
What is your favourite memory of that 2007 escape?
It has been even longer since Mads Hermansen featured on a Premier League team sheet. He starts in goal for the first time under Nuno. His last top-flight outing came in September, when a 3-0 home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur put Graham Potter on the brink.
Usual first-choice Alphonse Areola is among the substitutes, alongside Adama Traore, Pablo and Max Kilman.
