West Ham United’s win over Tottenham had pundit Michael Dawson seething.

Dawson, of course, is a former Spurs defender and he was on Sky Sports duty during their live coverage of Saturday’s Premier League action.

Not too many Saturdays have been kind to West Ham United fans this season but their journey back from north London will have been much easier after a dramatic late win.

Pretend you call the shots – what are you doing over Callum Wilson’s future?

Callum Wilson’s winner in stoppage time saw West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1 to claim a hugely important victory in the relegation scrap.

Indeed, the West Ham fans enjoyed beating Spurs for obvious reasons.

Dawson, meanwhile, was left visibly annoyed when discussing the game.

Michael Dawson says no Tottenham fan expected to lose to West Ham

Spurs have had problems of their own this season, amid major doubts about Thomas Frank’s future at the club.

Still, Dawson doesn’t think any Spurs fan would seriously have expected to lose to the Hammers.

“It’s a big London derby,” he said on Sky Sports

Callum Wilson at the death!

But who was your West Ham Man of the Match and why?

“It’s not an Arsenal vs Spurs but I tell you what, it’s huge. West Ham were looking like they were going to get relegated, and they go to the Tottenham stadium and win.

“Those Tottenham fans were not expecting that today. I don’t care how bad they’ve been, they were not expecting that and that is a disastrous result for Thomas Frank and that group of players because of who it is.

“Forget the run going into it. It hasn’t been good enough but the fact it’s against West Ham and the position that West Ham are in.”

West Ham’s best players in their win over Tottenham

West Ham’s win over Tottenham saw several players step up to the plate.

Wilson will naturally attract many of their plaudits following his well-taken if a little scruffy goal.

The forward also won the corner that led to the goal by forcing a save in the dying embers of the game.

However, West Ham’s defensive resilience should also be noted upon. Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos were excellent and helped repel Spurs when they were in the ascendancy.

Midfielder Mateus Fernandes also deserves a special mention, as does Crysencio Summerville.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game. It wasn’t dripping with quality but, on the balance of it, they did deserve all three points.

Hopefully, this is the platform upon which to build. West Ham are far from relegated just yet.
