Some West Ham United fans took to Twitter to praise Vladimir Coufal for his performance against Newcastle United this afternoon.

The 28-year-old Hammers right-back has been an absolute revelation since moving to the London Stadium from Slavia Prague for £5.4 million in October (BBC).

West Ham were incredibly poor against Newcastle at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Coufal stuck to his task and did his job on the most part, however.

The 14-capped Czech Republic international defended admirably and was one of our only real attacking threats all afternoon.


David Moyes will be keen to bring some more players with Coufal’s attitude and mentality to the London Stadium this summer.

The 28-year-old has made such a huge difference to the way in which we defend and play as a team.

Coufal has a win at all costs mentality. And we haven’t really had that over the past few years.

It made no difference this afternoon. The Hammers were poor pretty much all over the pitch.
