West Ham fans took to Twitter tonight to praise Aaron Cresswell after his performance against Norwich City.

The 32-year-old has been out injured since November 28th after limping off against Manchester City with a back injury.

At the time, the injury seemed to be an innocuous one really. It seemed to become more and more serious with each week that passed, however, as it emerged that Cresswell had chipped a bone in his back.

Claret and Hugh were the first to lift the lid on Cresswell’s worrisome back problem in December.

What made Cresswell’s absence even more troublesome was the lack of cover for the left-back.

Arthur Masuaku is quite simply a disaster waiting to happen whenever he plays in the left-back position. Emmanuel Longelo is too young and inexperienced to play regularly in the Premier League .

Meanwhile, Ben Johnson is more naturally suited to the right-back role.

West Ham really have missed Cresswell both from defensive and attacking perspectives.

His performance against Norwich tonight proved just how important he is to this team. He is one of the on-field lieutenants for David Moyes at the London Stadium.

The return of Cresswell on the team-sheet game everyone involved with West Ham a huge boost before the kick-off. And the experienced Hammer didn’t disappoint.

What a performance it was from the ever reliable left-back. His deliveries into the box really do make such a difference to West Ham and he offers us a real outlet down the left hand flank.

Cresswell returning to the side makes us a real threat down the left hand flank once again whereas without him it’s a real weak area for us.
