Some West Ham fans praised Ben Johnson after his performance against Brighton yesterday and suggested that the young ace’s display was the only positive thing to come out of the game.

The Hammers were so poor against the Seagulls yesterday. And in truth we were lucky to leave the London Stadium with a point.
There was one shining light, however.
Young Ben Johnson was absolutely magnificent. Aside from his well taken goal, he was the only West Ham player who played with any kind of intensity, heart and courage.

The 20-year-old is surely now a shoo-in for the Hammers clash with Southampton tomorrow.

For someone so young, Ben Johnson seems to have it all. Sure, he is still very raw and rough around the edges, but the basic ingredients are all there.
We need to be patient with the 20-year-old. He will undoubtedly go on to become a top player for us.

David Moyes deserves credit for bringing the youngster into the team yesterday. The Scot must keep him there whilst Arthur Masuaku is out injured.
There is nothing that we love more than seeing a young player come through the ranks in the famous claret and blue.
