Tomas Soucek stinks the place out for West Ham during sobering defeat to Brighton and David Moyes must make tough call

Tomas Soucek put in an absolutely awful performance for West Ham against Brighton at the London Stadium today.

Seriously…what does the 27-year-old have to do to get dropped by David Moyes?

Soucek has been a passenger for the Hammers over the past year really, and Moyes cannot afford to start him again for there foreseeable future.

We highlighted yesterday how the Czech Republic international should not have been starting today against Brighton.

Moyes obviously sees something in the Czech midfielder that we don’t at the moment though.

Soucek puts his heart and soul into every performance for the Hammers and lays absolutely everything on the line.

The 27-year-old does not stop running and he has proven time and time again that he will put his body on the line for this football club. West Ham signed big Tomas on a permanent deal from Slavia Prague two years ago for around £15 million (Daily Mail). And he instantly endeared himself as a fan favourite to the London Stadium faithful.

In spite of all that, Soucek has been completely ineffective for West Ham over the past 6-12 months. He seems to have lost his goalscoring instinct, and whilst his role for the Hammers has undoubtedly changed, his positioning, body shape and shooting technique all seem to be well off.

And he stunk the place out badly today…

Tomas Soucek shocker for West Ham against Brighton

The 27-year-old’s passing was once again well off the levels that Premier League football demands.

One of the 52-capped Czech Republic international’s worst features is his ability when in possession of the football. And on top of that, his passing ability is very poor as well. This slows West Ham down in transition, and we cannot afford to be laborious in our build-up play in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old’s passing was once again well off the levels that Premier League football demands.

He recorded a truly shocking pass accuracy completion rate of 61.1% from 36 attempted passes (Who Scored).

His movement is painfully slow and laborious as well. I’ve seen milk turn quicker.

Soucek’s main strength is his aerial ability and even that deserted him today, with just one successful aerial duel to his name (Who Scored).

The ex-Slavia Prague midfielder seems completely and utterly lost at the moment.

Today was a huge wakeup call for David Moyes, his staff, the players and the owners.

The Scot has to mix things up in our next Premier League outing away at Aston Villa. And the first item on his agenda should be to drop Tomas Soucek from the West Ham starting lineup.
