Taty Castellanos was the hero for West Ham United on Sunday.

The forward made only his second appearance for West Ham following his move from Lazio earlier this month and duly secured progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side hardly delivered a vintage performance on Sunday but, frankly, a win is a win at this point.

How much confidence does the win over QPR give you heading into Spurs? 👀

Oh, how sweet it would be to start to turn things around against them 😍

Indeed, a late header from Castellanos in extra-time proved the decisive moment in West Ham’s 2-1 win over QPR

It was a brilliant moment for him and perhaps one upon which he can build.

Strikers have long endured issues when playing for West Ham and while it would be unwise to get carried away, the new man scoring early into his career can only be a positive thing.

After the game, Castellanos took to social media platform Instagram

The Argentine obviously celebrated his goal against QPR and rightly so.

Still, he was quick to ensure that another message was relayed. The 27-year-old stressed that “this must be the path to boost our confidence.”

His message in full read: “Really happy for my first goal with this shirt! Big effort of the team, this must be the path to boost our confidence.

“Thanks to the fans for the great support this afternoon.”

Taty Castellanos makes a good start after Carlos Tevez statement

Castellanos is eager to replicate Carlos Tevez at West Ham and while he still has an awful lot left to prove, Sunday was a good start.

Tevez, of course, helped West Ham steer away from a relegation battle back in 2007.

To suggest one goal against QPR puts him in Tevez territory would obviously be unwise. However, Castellanos is at least making a good start.

West Ham do need a hero, that much is obvious. Castellanos isn’t that yet, but it was brilliant to see him step up on Sunday.

The message he sent about needing to follow this path is absolutely correct, too. Few are likely to remember cup progress if West Ham revert to type next weekend, after all.
