Nuno Espirito Santo picked out two “amazing” West Ham United players following their first win in 64 days.

At long last, West Ham United fans got to enjoy the winning feeling once again.

Though West Ham’s 2-1 win over QPR in the FA Cup is unlikely to answer that many questions, a victory should be enjoyed.

It has so far been such a miserable season that cup progress should be savoured.

Nuno went reasonably strong in his team selection and saw his team book their spot in the fourth-round draw as a result.

The West Ham boss was particularly pleased with two of his forwards.

Nuno says Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen were “amazing”

The Portuguese hasn’t had an awful lot to shout about during his time in charge.

Still, and while the level of the opposition does need to be taken into account, at least he saw his team show character and commitment to win a tight game in extra-time.

Clearly, it’s hard to get too carried away, but credit where credit is due.

Crysencio Summerville scored the opener deep into added time in the first half following an injury to Konstantinos Mavropanos before the Dutchman turned provider.

It was his cross after a brilliant turn that led to Taty Castellanos heading in his first goal for the club in extra-time.

Nuno said he was “amazing”, while also providing that label to Jarrod Bowen’s performance.

Bowen endured a slightly more frustrating afternoon in front of goal but still got the seal of approval from his manager.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website, Nuno said: “Cry delivered today, Jarrod also, [they played] an amazing game.”

Nuno hails West Ham fans after win over QPR

In the same interview, Nuno also praised the West Ham faithful for their support.

Nuno hasn’t always been a popular figure among West Ham fans and a tight win over a Championship side is unlikely to change that too much.

Still, he did pay a special mention to them after the game, perhaps to try and get them on side for the battles ahead.

It will be fascinating to see if his side can build on this for next weekend’s trip to rivals Tottenham.

Cup campaigns can sometimes flip a season on its head and Spurs are not exactly at their strongest either…

Asked about the energy the 58,000-strong crowd gave his team, the former Wolves boss said: “If we give, you can feel every time there’s a good move, there’s a corner, the sound becomes amazing in London Stadium. We’re going to need them [over the rest of the season].”
