The 28-year-old Hammers ace was absolutely superb against the Gunners yesterday.

In fact, he has been since he moved to the London Stadium on loan from Manchester United in January.

Lingard has five goals and two assists to his name in seven games for West Ham so far.

He was recently rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to the England national squad ahead of the next round of international fixtures.

West Ham are incredibly lucky to have Jesse. Let’s hope that we make his loan deal a permanent one in the summer.

Paul Merson blown away by Jesse Lingard form

Having him at the London Stadium enables us to compete with some of the very best teams in the league. Yesterday’s first-half display against Arsenal was evidence of that.

Paul Merson raved about Lingard before the game against Arsenal kicked off yesterday (March 21st, 2:38pm):

“I’m a big fan of his. I thought he Wass a great signing on deadline day, I thought he was the best. He’s a good player. He’s got in the West Ham team played six or seven games and he’s back in the England squad. That tells you everything about the lad. He’s comfortable there and he’s got a good footballing brain. He runs off the ball. Yeh, I’m a big fan of him.”

Merson then praised Lingard at half-time after his superbly taken goal (3:49pm):

“That is someone bang in form. Everything about it, his touch, his composure, he doesn’t rush. Outstanding.”

Merson isn’t wrong. Jesse Lingard is a man bang in form.

West Ham need him to maintain those levels for the final nine games of the season, if we are to have any chance whatsoever of finishing inside the top six.

Jesse is on another level to most of the West Ham players. And it is no coincidence that we have gone from strength-to-strength since his arrival in East London.
