Dean’s unfathomable decision to give Soucek his marching orders has been widely criticised by everyone in the game.
Current players, ex players, fans, managers and pundits alike have all come together to condemn Mike Dean after his mind-boggling decision last night.
Ian Wright was one of those.
Mike Dean receives criticism for Tomas Soucek red card decision
The mind boggles at what Dean must have been thinking. Lee Mason should not escape criticism either considering the fact that he was behind the decision to send Mike Dean to the technical area to watch the VAR screen.
Ian Wright was furious with the decision to send Tomas Soucek off:
The baffling Mike Dean decision didn’t cost West Ham in the game last night.
If it doesn’t get overturned, however, the Hammers could really suffer.
Soucek is vitally important to David Moyes’s side. And having the Czech ace unavailable for three games would be a real kick in the teeth for the East London outfit.
Surely common sense has to prevail here. There is no way on God’s green earth that Soucek intentionally tried to inflict harm on Aleksandar Mitrovic last night.
Antybody could see that.
Apart from Mike Dean and Lee Mason of course…
