Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he was very impressed by West Ham United’s defending, when speaking to the Liverpool Echo last night.
David Moyes has made a huge difference since taking over at the London Stadium for the second time in December 2019.
Certainly from a defensive perspective.
The Hammers have looked rock solid at the back this season.
We have kept two clean sheets from our last two games – away at Southampton and Everton. That is no mean feet considering that the Saints and the Toffees have two of the best strikers in England amongst their ranks in the form of Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti impressed by Hammers
Carlo Ancelotti addressed the media last night, and offered high words of praise for West Ham United’s defensive work at Goodison Park, when speaking to the Liverpool Echo:
“The performance was not at the top. Compared to the last game, we had more of the ball but we were not able to manage the ball as we wanted, with speed and with quality in the final third. We didn’t have a lot of opportunities in the game. West Ham defended really well.”
If West Ham can maintain their solidity and organisation at the back for the remainder of the season we will undoubtedly finish inside the top half of the table.
One of the key factors behind our impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign has been the superb form of Angelo Ogbonna.
The experienced Italian has been an absolute rock for the Hammers. Quite where we would be without him doesn’t bear thinking about.
The 32-year-old is like a fine wine. He just keeps getting better with age. And Carlo Ancelotti must be very envious that his countryman is playing for West Ham rather than Everton.
