When speaking to reporters, West Ham boss David Moyes praised Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson after yesterday’s 1-0 win over Burnley, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers ground out a hard fought three points against the Clarets.
It was the kind of game we would not have won 12 months ago.
Burnley are an incredibly hard-working, resilient team. The great thing is that we are exactly that now as well.
West Ham are defensively sound and an incredibly well-organised defensive unit.
The Hammers are no pushovers any more. And that is a really refreshing change for us fans.
West Ham boss David Moyes speaks highly of Ogbonna and Dawson
The Scot offered high words of praise for Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson after yesterday’s win over Burnley, as quoted by Football.London:
“It was a day where I needed my defenders to stand up and be counted and I thought Angello Ogbonna and Craig Dawson especially, those two stood up and were counted magnificently. So, good on them!”
Oggy and Daws were truly brilliant yesterday.
The Italian won four aerial duels and seven ground duels whilst the Englishman won two and two in the same respective categories. And the defensive duo made a massive 14 clearances between them (Football Critic).
They cleared up absolutely everything that Burnley threw at them.
Everyone is well aware of Ogbonna’s quality but Dawson has proved many West Ham fans wrong this season. The Watford loanee has been an absolute rock, keeping four clean sheets in his first four games for the Hammers.
It would be no surprise to see Moyes turn the 30-year-old’s loan deal into a permanent one this month.
And most West Ham fans would surely be more than happy with that outcome.
