Alan Shearer was highly complimentary of West Ham United ace Aaron Cresswell when speaking on the BBC last night (Tuesday February 9th, 19:15).
The 31-year-old has experienced an incredible renaissance at the London Stadium this season.
He experienced an incredibly difficult campaign last term, with many West Ham fans calling for David Moyes to get rid of him.
Cresswell, who was signed from Ipswich Town for £4 million in the summer of 2014 (Mirror), obviously worked hard during the off-season, however. And he has been one of the Hammers’ stand-out players this term.
The Liverpool-born ace has been superb whether deployed as a left-sided centre-back or in the more orthodox left-back role.
Alan Shearer a huge Aaron Cresswell fan
Cresswell has defended brilliantly and he’s been a real threat going forward as well, with five assists to his name this season.
Alan Shearer described Aaron Cresswell as ‘fantastic’, when speaking on BBC Sport last night:
“I have been very impressed with Cresswell at both defending and attacking. He has offered so much to West Ham. Whether he has played in a three or a four for West Ham, he’s done a good job. He’s bright, clever and whips balls into the box. He’s been fantastic.”
Cresswell was once again superb against Manchester United last night.
At 31, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. In fact, he just keeps getting better and better.
If Cresswell keeps this fine form up for West Ham, he has to be in consideration for a place in the England squad for the Euros this summer.
Alan Shearer is clearly a very big fan of the Hammers star. And the more attention he gets from pundits like Shearer, the harder it will be for Gareth Southgate to ignore him.
