David Moyes would have been delighted with his team and the manner in which they went about their business especially having lost Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell to injuries.

The three points today were absolutely massive as the race for the top six continues to heat up.

Losing Antonio and Cresswell to injuries was obviously a massive blow but the three points was needed so badly today. What a result and what a team performance it was from the boys.

Despite Benrahma’s contributions and Yarmolenko’s special moment, we think one player in particular deserves a mention.

West Ham ace stood out vs Aston Villa

Kurt Zouma was an absolute rock for the Hammers once again this afternoon.

His statistics made for some pretty impressive reading.

Zouma had 48 touches, made 38 passes and registered an incredible 100% completion rate. He attempted three long balls and each one of them hit their intended target. The Frenchman won three aerial duels and made one interception and six clearances (Who Scored).

Zouma’s problems from last month have been well-documented.

The 27-year-old made a huge mistake but he has bounced back emphatically and is slowly proving just how good he is.

The former Chelsea ace has made a huge difference to the way in which West Ham defend since moving to the London Stadium in the summer.

He is an absolute powerhouse, is incredibly strong in the air, quick along the ground and just gives the whole team so much more confidence when we are defending with our backs to the wall.

Signing Zouma for just under £30 million now looks like an incredibly good deal for the Hammers.

And the powerful Frenchman’s performance today against Aston Villa once again highlighted his importance to this West Ham team.
