West Ham have made an utterly ridiculous claim about star Mohammed Kudus ahead of the Bournemouth clash on Thursday night.
West Ham are back in Premier League action on Thursday night when Bournemouth come to the London Stadium.
The Hammers have had to do without their star boy Mohammed Kudus during a difficult January.
His absence was sorely felt in draws against Brighton and Sheffield United in the league as well as the draw and then defeat to midtable Championship side Bristol City in the FA Cup.
But the brilliant attacker has been back at West Ham since shortly after Ghana crashed out of AFCON at the group stage last week.
Kudus was officially the best performing individual at the tournament. But that could not prevent his side from crashing out, much to West Ham’s relief.
David Moyes has Kudus back and he has been pictured training with his teammates at Rush Green in the build-up to the match against the Cherries.
But West Ham have made an utterly ridiculous claim about Kudus ahead of the Bournemouth clash.
Every game between now and the end of the season is massive for the Hammers in the league and in Europe. And Kudus will be key to their hopes and chances in both.
Moyes’ side are very much in the box seat for a top six spot and can even push for fifth – which is likely to be rewarded with a place in the Champions League.
A win over Bournemouth could open up a six-point gap for the Hammers in sixth place and see them close within two points of fifth-placed Spurs.
So there is no doubt Moyes will be fielding his strongest possible side for the in-form Cherries.
The good news in that regard is that Jarrod Bowen returned in the draw with Sheffield United, Edson Alvarez has been back in training and declared himself ready for Bournemouth. Kalvin Phillips has joined and is available. And of course – perhaps most importantly – Kudus is back.
Yet West Ham have stated in their official preview for the game that he ‘might be in consideration’ to play.
“Edson Alvarez, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio continue to be assessed after being absent from West Ham United’s squad for the draw away at Sheffield United, while Mohammed Kudus might be in consideration following Ghana’s elimination from the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.”
“Might be in consideration” – pull the other one West Ham.
Kudus is fit, rested and goes straight back into the side without any question or hesitation.
We know the Hammers had another weekend off. But Sheffield United was not that long ago for memories to fade of just how awful the side played in that draw.
So who are West Ham kidding with this official team news update? Not Bournemouth and certainly not West Ham fans.
