Tomas Soucek has told a teammate what he must do to help West Ham beat Aston Villa after an amazing turnaround.

Tomas Soucek is back to his Super Tom best for West Ham this season after being freed from the shackles of playing alongside Declan Rice.

He and big Czech mate Vladimir Coufal have been two of West Ham’s most important, reliable and influential players since arriving in east London.

But both have struggled for spells, though, and found themselves being questioned by some Hammers fans.

Soucek’s goal against Newcastle meant he had scored in consecutive Premier League games for West Ham for the first time since December 2020.

He has five goals and two assists for club and country already this season.

If Soucek’s return to form has been brilliant, then Coufal’s has been incredible.

Four assists in four consecutive Premier League games have seen Coufal cement his return to the swashbuckling right-back West Ham fans quickly fell in love with when he arrived from Slavia Prague.

But one thing is missing between the Czech duo.

Now Soucek has told his teammate what he must do to help West Ham beat Aston Villa after amazing turnaround.

‘He needs to get that sorted out’

Given they have played together for club and country for nearly 10 years, it is somewhat surprising that none of Coufal’s assists have been for Soucek.

And the big man has told him that needs to change during an interview with the club’s official website.

“I’m happy for Vlad. He’s in good form too and playing so well. He’s my big mate in the club and I’m very happy for him.

“He’s getting so many assists at the moment, but he’s never actually given me an assist! I was talking to him about it and we need to get that sorted out. But I’m glad he’s playing well and he’s enjoying his football too.

“Hopefully he can assist for me against Aston Villa.”

‘It’s an important time of the season’

Soucek knows it will not be easy at Villa Park, though.

“This is a big test,” he added.

“I would compare this to when we played Brighton & Hove Albion away. We were able to beat Brighton but it was such a tough game. We know Sunday will be very tough.

“Both teams are in a good position and that will make this game very competitive. We’re both playing in Europe too and both teams will want to do so again next season.

“It’s an important time of the season to pick up points and we want to be as high up the league table as possible.”
