David Moyes looks set to be true to his word by putting out a strong side for West Ham United’s FA Cup clash at Manchester United tonight.

West Ham head to Old Trafford having given the Red Devils a real game in the league before the Christmas period.

It was a match West Ham should have won. But spurned chances and the inexplicable decision to allow Paul Pogba’s equaliser to stand after the ball had clearly gone a metre out of play turned the match in Man United’s favour.

Both West Ham and Man United go into the game off the back of disappointing draws in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hammers drew 0-0 at lowly Fulham while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side threw away 2-0 and 3-2 leads to draw 3-3 with Everton at home.

Moyes has been boosted ahead of the game by the news that top scorer Tomas Soucek will be available after his red card against Fulham was rescinded.

But Michail Antonio looks highly unlikely to be available as Moyes revealed his only senior striker was still suffering with fatigue on Monday.

Against lesser opposition Moyes would have made five or six changes for this fixture given the quick turnaround from Saturday night’s match.

Dawson rested in one of three Moyes changes?

He looks set to make just three or four, though.

Craig Dawson will be rested after a whirlwind couple of months that has seen him play nine of West Ham’s last 10 games in just five weeks.

Fabian Balbuena will step back into the side in his place.

Jesse Lingard is cup tied having played for Man United in the last round.

So contrary to some bizarre reports on other sites, there was no need for West Ham to agree to not play him against his parent club for this game.

Pablo Fornals will replace Lingard. The Spaniard was unlucky to lose his place in the West Ham side of late.

And he was an unused sub at Craven Cottage, which suggests he was being saved to start at Old Trafford.

Andriy Yarmolenko will replace Antonio up front. The Ukraine winger is yet to convince in the lone striker role against top level opposition.

And many West Ham fans would rather see young striker Mipo Odubeko handed his debut against his old club.

But he will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Against lesser opposition Moyes would usually consider resting the likes of Angelo Ogbonna for Issa Diop, Vladimir Coufal for Ryan Fredericks and Aaron Cresswell for Ben Johnson.

He may even have considered bringing Manuel Lanzini and Mark Noble into the side for Soucek and Declan Rice and re-working the midfield.

But West Ham fans would be furious if the Scot made too many changes and it backfired.

Moyes also has the extra option of using five substitutes during the match.

Teams can only take three opportunities to make subs in normal time but can use five players.

Any unused subs can be carried over into extra-time where teams will also then be able to make an additional change if they have not already used five subs.

There will be no replays so West Ham will go to penalties if the match ends in a draw after extra-time.

After the weekend controversy Hammers fans may not welcome the news that VAR will be in use as it is at a Premier League ground.
