David Moyes highlighted the physical capacity of Leeds as something to be wary of when speaking to reporters yesterday, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers take on the Whites at Elland Road tonight in the 8pm kick-off.
And David Moyes’s men will have their work cut-out if we are to leave west Yorkshire with a positive result to show for our efforts.
Marcelo Bielsa has earned rave reviews for the manner in which he has transformed Leeds as a football club since taking over as manager in June 2018.
The Argentine has implemtned a wonderful brand of exciting, free-flowing football at Elland Road.
But Leeds are not just about attractive football according to David Moyes.
The West Ham boss highlighted the Whites’ physical capabilities when speaking to reporters yesterday, as quoted by Football.London:
“The physical capacity of Leeds has an effect on everybody, you have only had to see the games the others have played against them to see how much it has stretched and taxed them so I think it is a really hard game. Leeds have got a lot of good things going. There is an awful lot that we are doing well but we are going to have to be ready for a different type of game and hopefully show we have players with a similar energy level that they have.”
Moyes is spot on. Leeds will pose us a physical test as well as a technical and tactical one tonight.
Marcelo Bielsa always sets up his teams to be competitive. And if the West Ham players aren’t at it tonight, we will get beaten. It’s as simple as that.
Let’s just hope that the Hammers are ready to mix it with Leeds physically. If we get that part of our game right, we have every chance of earning a positive result against the Whites.
