Arsenal are now missing at least 5 players for the Declan Rice derby with West Ham at the Emirates on Thursday night.

West Ham bring the curtain down on 2023 with a trip to London rivals Arsenal on December 28th.

The Hammers have fond memories of their last meeting with the Gunners having comfortably beaten them 3-1 in the Carabao Cup last month.

Both West Ham and Arsenal made changes for that game at the London Stadium.

But it will be the strongest possible line-ups David Moyes and Mikel Arteta can field for this Premier League clash at the Emirates.

Arsenal missing 5 for West Ham

To that end West Ham have been handed a boost by news emerging from Arsenal ahead of the clash.

Because Arsenal are now missing at least 5 players for the Declan Rice derby with West Ham.

As reported by Hammers News at the weekend, £65m Arsenal star Kai Havertz will miss the West Ham game through suspension following his booking against Liverpool.

Havertz had just started to find his feet after a difficult start to life at Arsenal. So that is good news for Moyes and the Hammers.

He will definitely be joined in his watching brief by four other Gunners stars too.

Key stars out for Gunners

Arsenal boss Arteta has confirmed to Football.London that Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber will all definitely miss the West Ham match.

And both Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny may only be fit enough to for a place on the bench.

West Ham will be without Michail Antonio and Nayef Aguerd.

The Hammers are looking to consolidate their push for a top six spot with a positive result in north London.

Arsenal meanwhile will be looking to either maintain or regain their place at the top of the table. That depends on the results of Liverpool and Aston Villa and Burnley and Man United respectively.

Traditionally there’s never been a great rivalry between the Hammers and the Gunners. Certainly not a fierce one.

But the Rice factor has certainly given matches between the two teams an extra edge. West Ham will be keen to put a spanner in the works for Arsenal’s title after Rice pushed for a move there over Man City.
