The 22-year-old Hammers ace was quite simply sensational for the Three Lions.
He did not stop running for his team and broke up the Italian’s play left right and centre.
Rice was also incredibly dynamic, carrying the ball from deep and running into the opposition’s half with power and pace.
It really was very Yaya Toure-esque.
This was all until Gareth Southgate inexplicably brought him off in order to make way for Jordan Henderson.
Perhaps he has a knock. Nobody really knows.
All we do know is that England were a different team once Rice left the pitch.

The West Ham man is absolutely adored at the London Stadium by the club’s fans, David Moyes and the Hammers coaching staff.
And it seems as though the rest of the footballing world are now waking up to just how good the 22-year-old is.
Jenas raved about Dec, when speaking during the game on BBC last night (July 11th, 8:23pm):
‘He’s done a lot of that tonight Declan Rice, the horrible stuff. Winning balls on the edge of the box, the little scrappy bits. He makes sure that England pick up the ball and are able to start the play again.”
The BBC pundit then praised Rice again a little bit later on (8:43pm):
“A lot of that unselfish stuff, that breaking up of play and driving through midfielder, he’s done that really well.”
Everyone at West Ham are incredibly proud of Declan Rice. Not only is he a fantastic footballer but he is also an incredibly likeable young man.
The 22-year-old was so close to making history last night. It didn’t quite happen in the end, but he should be extremely proud of himself.
Rice did his country, family and football club proud last night.
