West Ham head to Stamford Bridge to face Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in a very rare Saturday 3pm kick-off this weekend.

After a slow start the Hammers have shown signs of improvement, following up their first win and goal of the season at Aston Villa with a 1-1 draw against Spurs in midweek.

Chelsea are, like West Ham, going through an intense period of squad transition having seen a raft of departures and arrivals following a hectic transfer window in east and west London.

And it has shown in the form and performances of both West Ham and Chelsea so far.

The Blues, who sold Emerson to the Hammers for £13m last month, lost 3-0 to Leeds last week before narrowly beating Leicester and then losing 2-1 to Southampton.

West Ham will be relieved that new Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not available to face them.

And Moyes will be hoping for a striker boost from his own camp as he waits to see whether £35m Italy forward Scamacca will be available after illness.

Both Scamacca and Dawson – who is yet to feature this season due to a quad injury and whose move to Wolves collapsed on deadline day – are briefly spotted in a video posted by West Ham of the squad training at Rush Green ahead of Chelsea.

Moyes has revealed what’s happened to Scamacca’s gums and throat ahead of Chelsea after West Ham doctors tried to get the forward back fit with a course of antibiotics.

The team seemed in very good spirits with new record signing Lucas Paqueta joining in the fun too.

Ben Johnson and Aaron Cresswell were both absent through injury.

And despite his appearance in training, Moyes admits the trio of Johnson, Cresswell and Scamacca could all miss the Chelsea game when speaking in his pre-match press conference.

“Ben Johnson is not available and we’re still waiting to see how Gianluca Scamacca is and how Aaron Cresswell is,” Moyes said in his pre-Chelsea presser.

“It’ll be a late decision for both of them (Scamacca and Cresswell).”
