Southampton have been handed a big double injury boost ahead of their clash with West Ham on Boxing Day, according to The Daily Echo.
The Hammers welcome Southampton to the London Stadium on Sunday for what is a hugely important game for both sides, but for very different reasons!
West Ham are currently flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table but we desperately need a win, having taken just five points from our last six games.
Meanwhile, the Saints are languishing down in 15th spot in the table, just six points clear of the drop zone.
The worrying thing for Ralph Hasenhuttl is that his side have played more games than every club below them in the table bar Leeds and Newcastle.
Southampton are in real trouble, there’s no denying that. They have been given some good news ahead of their game against West Ham on Sunday though.
Southampton injury boost ahead of West Ham clash
The Daily Echo claim that Southampton duo Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong have returned to training ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Ham at the London Stadium.
Adams hasn’t played for Southampton since December 4th whilst Armstrong’s last game for the Saints was on November 5th.
Having them both back and available for selection will be a very big boost indeed for Hasenhuttl.
Having said that, West Ham should have more than enough about us to win the game. David Moyes will have made it clear to the players that they haven’t been anywhere near the required levels over the past month.
The Hammers will be well up for this one. We haven’t been anywhere near good enough in recent games. The second-half display against Tottenham on Wednesday night was very good though and it should have given the players a real lift.
We’re unbeaten in our last eight games against Southampton. We should all be confident of making that 9 on Sunday.
Sure, Southampton have been handed a double injury boost ahead of the game. West Ham will surely have too much for the Saints though.
