Persistent reporter gets West Ham boss David Moyes to reveal how Kurt Zouma is responding to injury treatment

A persistent reporter got West Ham boss David Moyes to reveal how Kurt Zouma is responding to injury treatment.

West Ham insiders have recently claimed that both Zouma and Issa Diop are out for the season after injuries against Brentford and Burnley respectively.

With so much to play for in the Premier League and the huge Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon, it has come at the worst possible time.

Moyes delivered a more encouraging injury update on West Ham defensive duo Diop and Zouma in his pre-Chelsea press conference yesterday.

But in a typically cagey presser, Moyes was reluctant to go into detail about either injury or the timescales for a return.

The Scot did however give one nugget of information gleaned by the persistent questioning of excellent Sky Sports reporter Gail Davis.

Other clubs communicate injury news with fans via the official channels.

But West Ham boss Moyes is somewhat old school in that respect, not wanting to give the opposition any insight into his team selections.

And Moyes eventually lifted the lid on how West Ham star Zouma is responding to injury treatment.

“Well I’m not going to answer your question ‘are they ruled out for the season’ because that would be putting timescales on it which you said (yourself) I don’t do,” Moyes told Davis in his presser (CareFree Chelsea YouTube).

“But what I would say obviously Issa has an injury and Kurt has an injury, we’re not putting timescales on it because you always want to get them back quicker.

“It’s really important we get them back and hopefully we can get them back as quick as we can.

“I think so, yes, yea” Moyes said with a nod when Davis asked whether Zouma was responding well to treatment for his injury.

It is great to hear from the horse’s mouth that Zouma is responding well to treatment.

Let’s hope that means he can get back for some crucial games during West Ham’s run in.

We’ll be keeping our fingers – and Hammers – crossed Moyes can get Zouma back asap.
