Newcastle United’s star man Bruno Guimaraes let his guard down on a meet and greet and West Ham will take note.

West Ham and Newcastle meet on Sunday in a clash of the clubs so ludicrously robbed by two of the worst VAR decisions yet last weekend.

Newcastle visit east London with West Ham desperate to get a win to lift the pressure that comes with being unexpectedly in and around the relegation zone.

It is far too soon to call West Ham’s clash with Newcastle a ‘must win’.

But psychologically the Hammers can draw level on seven points with Newcastle if they beat Eddie Howe’s side on Sunday.

Given the defensive injury issues that have plagued West Ham’s start to the season, there has been much interest around team news coming out of St James Park this week.

Howe had key striker Callum Wilson, playmaker Allan Saint-Maximin and star man Bruno Guimaraes missing from the draw with Palace last time out.

And David Moyes – as well as West Ham fans – will undoubtedly be hoping they miss the trip to the London Stadium too.

There have been mixed messages this week over the Newcastle trio’s potential availability to face West Ham.

But it seems there may be some good news news when it comes to one particular Magpie.

Because Newcastle star man Guimaraes let his guard down on meet and greet and West Ham will take note.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle team-mates Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Javier Manquillo at a meet-and greet session at the club store at St James’ Park this week.

And when asked if it he will be fit to make the Newcastle clash with West Ham – where he will face Brazil teammate Lucas Paqueta – Guimaraes’ answer was far from convincing.

“Yeah, I’ve been working hard for this (to be back),” the midfield ace told NUFC TV.

“It’s my goal, but I don’t know if I will be ready. I know I need to answer this question for many fans today!

“But I’m doing my best to be ready as soon as possible.”
