Nayef Aguerd fears confirmed for West Ham United as Morocco take a huge risk on £30m man after his thigh tear.

How long will the ‘low grade thigh tear’ suffered by Aguerd in victory over Spain keep the West Ham ace out for?

That has been the question on everyone’s lips back at West Ham ahead of the resumption of the Premier League next weekend.

Well tonight David Moyes, the West Ham medical team and the club’s fans have their answer.

Aguerd missed Morocco’s historic last eight victory over Portugal at the weekend and was said to be out for around three weeks with the injury.

That was a relief for West Ham with initial concerns he could be out for months.

It looked all but certain to be the end of Aguerd’s World Cup, though, with the defender remaining in Qatar to support his teammates.

West Ham fans were taken aback when rumours circulated today that Aguerd might be in the starting line up when the Atlas Lions face France in the World Cup semi-final today.

Now Aguerd fears have been confirmed for West Ham as Morocco take a huge risk on the £30m man after his thigh tear.

The West Ham star, who has barely kicked a ball for the Hammers after a serious ankle injury on only his second appearance in pre-season, is tonight officially named in the Morocco starting line-up to face the French.

The news will undoubtedly concern Moyes and the West Ham medical team.

Should the tear be made worse the defender could face over six weeks out.

Fingers crossed that does not happen.

Many will point to the fact this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Aguerd and his country.

So let’s just keep everything crossed that he comes through the game unscathed.
