There is some Lucas Paqueta concern for West Ham ahead of Liverpool clash as fans anxiously wait on David Moyes update.
West Ham drew 1-1 at Southampton on Sunday – a result which left fans and manager Moyes hugely frustrated.
There was no such frustration for Wednesday’s opponents Liverpool, though.
Jurgen Klopp’s side ominously looked more like their old selves as they became the first team to beat Manchester City this season ahead of welcoming the Hammers to Anfield.
West Ham fans are desperate to see record signing Paqueta hit top form in the claret and blue.
The Brazil ace came close to scoring on a couple of occasions as West Ham wasted a host of chances in a game they dominated against the Saints.
Liverpool were actually linked with a late move to steal Paqueta from under West Ham’s noses at the end of the transfer window.
But it was third time lucky for Moyes who has admitted missing out on Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.
Paqueta picked up a knock to what looked like his collarbone and neck area in the draw with Southampton and needed treatment.
He played on but went down off the ball late on feeling the same injury and had to be substituted.
TV cameras showed West Ham’s Emerson – his former Lyon teammate and a fellow Brazilian-born Portuguese speaker – translating between Paqueta and the Hammers physio as the injury was assessed on the bench.
The midfield ace looked in some discomfort. But there has been no mention of Paqueta’s injury by the club or West Ham since yesterday’s game. We can only hope that no news is good news in that respect.

The Scot will be speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Anfield, which is very rarely a happy hunting ground for West Ham.
Hopes were high that West Ham could trouble Liverpool given their rotten form so far this season.
But the Reds have started to look dangerous again as is so typical of West Ham’s luck.
Moyes usually plays his cards close to his chest over injuries and team news, so time will tell if he gives anything away as to whether Paqueta is a doubt.
West Ham can actually leapfrog Liverpool in the table with a win.
But Moyes already has several injury and illness issues in defence with doubts over Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma.
