An ITK reporter has made a distressing claim about £35m West Ham star Gianluca Scamacca ahead of the Arsenal clash.

West Ham boss David Moyes is a man under pressure as the Premier League gets back underway on Boxing Day at league leaders Arsenal.

The Hammers had been boosted by the absence of Gunners striker Gabriel Jesus after his injury on Brazil duty at the World Cup.

But West Ham have some serious issues of their own too.

One of those surrounds Italian forward Scamacca.

It is fair to say it has been a mixed start to life in England for Scamacca, who was also allegedly being tracked by Arsenal before signing for the Hammers in the summer.

Moyes is struggling to get the best out of the former Sassuolo man, who has been starved of service.

There was huge concern when Scamacca limped off after just 13 minutes of the weekend friendly against Fulham.

The striker turned his ankle under a daft challenge from former Hammer Issa Diop.

West Ham assistant boss Billy McKinlay provided a positive update when speaking about the striker after the game, suggesting he was withdrawn as a precaution.

But now an ITK reporter has made a distressing claim about £35m West Ham star Scamacca ahead of the Arsenal clash.

Speaking on 6foot2, ITK Sean Whetstone says he has been told that the swelling on Scamacca’s ankle was so bad he has not yet been able to have the injury scanned.

“An ankle injury to Hammer Gianluca Scamacca could be worst than first feared 6foot2 understands…” Whetstone said on 6foot2.

“6foot2 have since learnt that the swelling on the ankle was so bad he hasn’t been able to have it scanned to understand the full extent of the injury. This suggests it will not be a matter of days, and now could be a real doubt for the Boxing day clash against Arsenal in seven days time.”

Whetstone states the club is hoping that they can get Scamacca scanned as soon as possible and maybe even on Tuesday.

West Ham are already missing Kurt Zouma until mid-January and there is uncertainty over Nayef Aguerd’s availability for the Arsenal match after his injury at the World Cup.

In addition Moyes has been hit by a quadruple injury concern going into the Arsenal clash including the uncertainty around Scamacca.
