West Ham United fans fear the club has suffered yet another injury blow on the eve of the massive game at Newcastle United.
David Moyes’s side can go third with a win over the Magpies on Saturday lunchtime.
But West Ham will be missing three of their best players in Declan Rice, Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell.
Ahead of the Newcastle clash, West Ham fans were fearing yet another injury blow to Arthur Masuaku.
Concern over another Hammers star
The pacy star may have been at fault for both Leicester goals last weekend.
But he has also played a big part in three or four of West Ham’s six goals in their last two games.
With Cresswell out, Masuaku will undoubtedly be needed.
And now reliable insiders Claret and Hugh have responded to fears of a new injury to Masuaku, insisting the DR Congo international is FIT to face Newcastle.
“Arthur Masuaku – despite rumours on social media – is believed to be fit for Saturday’s game against Newcastle at St James’ Park,” Claret and Hugh report.
Insider allays new West Ham injury fears
“It remains to be seen whether he will be part of the manager’s thinking given his errors on Sunday but CandH understands there is no issue over his fitness.”
And in a further update this morning, Claret and Hugh confirmed Masuaku will indeed be involved after fears of a hamstring strain.
“Masuaku, who was holding his hamstring at the end of last Sunday’s game, appear to have recovered and have trained all week and should be available for selection,” Claret and Hugh reports.
Now Moyes must decide how to set up against a Newcastle side with just as much to play for as the Hammers.
A win for Newcastle would be a massive step towards survival.
Newcastle will not be easy, they have key players back and Magpies have their tails up
And after an impressive win over Burnley last time out the Geordies will have their tails up.
While West Ham are missing key players, Newcastle have some of theirs back with Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin fit and looking sharp.
It will be a tough game for West Ham given the circumstances.
Moyes must decide whether to bring rock Angelo Ogbonna back into the side in place of Cresswell.
He must also decide whether to revert to a back four with Ben Johnson likely to get the call at left-back if he does.
