There has been much excitement about what the future may hold for West Ham after some impressive summer business.
The Hammers owners backed David Moyes with eight quality new signings to the tune of £170m.
After an 18-month search for a striker, it was the arrival of Italy forward Scamacca that has – along with record arrival Lucas Paqueta – captured the imagination of West Ham fans most.
It has been a slow burn for Scamacca in the Premier League so far. Moyes was drip-feeding him into the English game as the 23-year-old did not get a pre-season with Sassuolo.
And just as he was getting going, illness ruled Scamacca out of West Ham’s last two Prem games.
He was back in the starting line-up against FCSB but looked rusty as he spurned several presentable chances and was substituted at half-time.
The 6ft 5in forward had also looked to be lacking his usual physicality, which is totally understandable given not even antibiotics could tackle the nasty virus which had Scamacca laid low.

West Ham – like many football clubs at the moment – are, unofficially, limiting the amount of social media and content being put out as a mark of respect following the Queen’s passing.
The club did, however, post a picture gallery from West Ham training at Rush Green ahead of games against Silkeborg in Denmark and Everton at Goodison Park.
West Ham and Everton are awaiting a decision from the Premier League as to whether the clash will go ahead on Sunday.
The FA has announced the EFL, National League and women’s game will recommence this week.
And the Premier League is expected to do the same although the three London games are potentially in doubt.
West Ham fans will be keen to see Scamacca continue to build his fitness and understanding with his new teammates when the Hammers take on Silkeborg.
The Italian certainly looks like he is over his illness if the training pictures are anything to go by (whufc.com).
In one particular image Scamacca can be seen hurling himself skyward to perform an acrobatic bicycle kick as his compatriot Emerson grimaces at the prospect of getting in the way.
Let’s hope we see something similar against Silkeborg and Everton.
West Ham could certainly do with a scissor kick smacker from super Scamacca as Moyes’ boys look to consolidate their place at the top of Europa Conference League Group B.
