It is suggested that the Hammers are awaiting results from a scan which will determine how long the Italian will be out of action. Those results are expected later today.

ExWHUemployee weighed into the situation, claiming that Moyes is worried that the 32-year-old’s injury is a groin problem.

The West Ham insider then clarified that he has been told that Ogbonna could be out for just 10 days, however.

Even so, nobody will actually know for sure until later today when the results from the scan are returned.

It could be a an anxious wait ahead for Moyes and co. With minimal centre-back options, a long-term injury to Ogbonna is unthinkable.

The Italy international is one of West Ham’s most important players. Since joining the Hammers for around £10 million from Juventus in the summer of 2015 (BBC), he has proven to be a huge fan favourite at the London Stadium and Upton Park before that.

The experienced 32-year-old centre-back has been an absolute rock for West Ham this season.

And David Moyes will be desperate to have him back and available for selection for his side’s trip to Sheffield United after the international break.

Let’s just hope that the results from the scan are positive. Because losing Ogbonna for a lengthy period of time is the last thing that the Hammers need right now.

We need a fit Oggy if we are to crack the top eight this term.
