West Ham will be without the services of a first-team player for at least two weeks due to injury, Hammers News has learned.

Nuno Espirito Santo is dealing with a few injury issues as the Hammers head into a tough run of games in December.

West Ham take on Manchester United next and after that, they take on Brighton, Aston Villa and Manchester City – all sides in the top five.

Ollie Scarles to be out for two more weeks

Nuno confirmed ahead of the Manchester United clash that Ollie Scarles has begun no-contact training after a broken collarbone.

The 19-year-old has not played since the 2-1 loss against Leeds United on 25 October, but there seems to be a chance of him playing before the end of 2025.

Hammers News understands that he will not be returning to full first-team training for at least another week post Nuno’s update on 2 December.

The left-back is not expected to be ready for first-team football for at least two weeks, so the earliest the Portuguese could expect him back is the Manchester City game on 20 December.

Scarles has played two Premier League games this season and neither of them have been in his preferred position.

He was deployed as a right-back against Brentford and played at right-wing in the loss against Leeds.

Will West Ham loan out Scarles in the January transfer window?

Scarles should be at 100 per cent for the second half of the season and his return leaves the Hammers with a decision to make on his future.

He has shown promise, but in order to continue his development, he would need regular first-team minutes.

Keeping him while El-Hadji Malick Diouf is away on AFCON duty makes a lot of sense as he could become a first-team regular in January.

However, that ends in the third week of the month and once the Senegal international is back, West Ham could decide to loan out Scarles.

The England Under-20 international’s deal does not run out until 2028 and the club hold the option to extend it by another year, so they have plenty of time to give him first-team chances.
