In recent times, we recored a 6-0 win over Barnsley in 1998, a 5-0 win against Coventry City in 1999 and a 5-0 victory over Derby County in 2007.
West Ham beat Hull City 7-1 as well way back in 1990 – my first ever visit to Upton Park!
But what are the biggest margins of victory the Hammers have ever experienced?
West Ham United’s biggest wins of all-time
West Ham 10 – 0 Bury – 1983
A League Cup encounter 38 years ago saw the Hammers chalk up their biggest win of all-time. Tony Cottee scored four, Trevor Brooking and Alan Devonshire scored two whilst Ray Stewart and Alvin Martin got in on the act as well.
West Ham 8-0 Sunderland – 1968
Our second biggest win saw Geoff Hurst rack up an incredible double hat-trick! Bobby Moore and a 20-year-old Trevor Brooking scored the other two goals.

West Ham 8-0 Rotherham – 1958
The Hammers blew away Rotherham 63 years ago with goals from John Dick (4), Vic Keeble (2) and John Smith (2).
West Ham 8-0 Macclesfield Town – 2018
The most recent result on the list came in the League Cup two-and-a-half years ago. Michail Antonio, Lucas Perez, Ryan Fredericks, Angelo Ogbonna all scored whilst Robert Snodgrass and Grady Diangana recorded braces.
West Ham 8-1 Newcastle United – 1986
Ray Stewart, Neil Orr, Frank McAvennie, Paul Goddard all scored. Newcastle scored an own goal and the cherry on the cake was an incredible hat-trick from centre-back Alvin Martin!

West Ham 8-1 Chesterfield – 1914
Daniel Bailey, Herbet Ashton and Richard Leafe all scored a goal each whilst Sydney Puddefoot racked up an incredible five-goal haul.
They really were some brilliant wins. Hopefully the current crop of players can gatecrash that list in the coming years. It will be far easier said than done to do just that, however!
